Management Team

Jim Taylor, Jr.
As Chairman, Jim directs Taylor Recycling’s development and led the firm’s transformation from a tree service business into a leading recycler of construction and demolition debris. Jim is an industry visionary with the practical contracting experience to manage projects of any complexity. Jim built a predecessor firm, Taylor Tree, into one of the region’s largest land clearing and tree service companies after buying the firm from his father, who founded Taylor Tree in 1956. Taylor’s reputation for excellent service was well established by the time Jim expanded the firm’s wood processing and landscape mulch production to dispose of wood from other businesses. Jim is a native of Newburgh, NY and lifelong resident of New York’s Hudson Valley.

She also helps to manage Taylor’s outside accounting as well asgeneral administrative work right down to running the truck scale when needed. Her greatest challenge so far was managing the overnight growth Taylor’s payroll experienced from 35 to 275 employees and handling the

overtime and benefits details from the 24-hour per day operation processing debris from the World Trade Center attacks. Having grown up in the business, Taylor’s youngest owner lends energy to the continued growth of the firm. James Taylor, III
As Taylor Recycling’s Managing Partner for Operations, James uses his many years of experience to direct Taylor’s day-to-day service to our customers. Most of Taylor’s employees report to James, allowing him to coordinate the complex mix of hauling, debris processing, and product manufacturing activities spread across our site.

His ability to track and manage Taylor’s diverse operations in real time is a key feature of our success. James works with other management to evaluate and implement nearly continuous improvements to Taylor’s processing and manufacturing operations.

Hans Taylor
As President and Managing Partner, Hans Taylor leads Taylor Recycling’s sales, outside projects including demolition, and business development efforts.

For example, just after the attacks on the World Trade Center, Hans made the initial contacts to the FBI and FEMA offering Taylor Recycling’s debris sorting capability to the evidence recovery effort at the Fresh Kills landfill in New York City.

He then led the effort to acquire specialized equipment from Canada and the Northeast, organize it into an appropriate debris sorting system, demonstrate the system to the NYPD, FBI and federal agencies, and immediately set up a completely self-sufficient 24 hour/day operation – all within 6 days time. Hans was Taylor’s primary manager overseeing the success of that critical work which ran all but six days over the nine months it took Taylor to process over 500,000 tons of debris.

Hans is Taylor’s lead estimator, negotiator, and relationship manager for our largest customers. He is an expert on mobile processing equipment and organizing site-based work from demolition to wood, soil, or concrete processing.
